Child to Champion

LTAD Pathway

The Child To Champion LTAD Pathway offers you a complete and progressive curriculum that transports the developing athlete along a 3-stage pathway to produce young athletes with a high level of athleticism.

What is LTAD?

Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) refers to the habitual development of athleticism over time to improve health and fitness, enhance physical performance, reduce the risk of injury and develop the confidence and competence of all youth and young athletes (R. S. Lloyd et al., 2016)

What is the Child to Champion LTAD Pathway?

The Child To Champion LTAD Pathway offers a complete and progressive curriculum that transports the developing athlete along a 3-stage pathway to produce young athletes with a high level of athleticism. The Foundation, Development and Performance Phases provide clear, age appropriate training objectives and realistic outcomes for the key training areas highlighted within the Youth Physical Development model: strength, power, speed, agility and cardiovascular endurance. Throughout the pathway, we direct you to key lectures and practical sessions by world leading practitioners within our Online Hub that will deepen your understanding even further. At launch the Foundation Phase is live and ready to view, with the Development and Performance Phases to follow soon.

Through the Child To Champion LTAD Pathway our aim is to help academies, schools, clubs and private gym owners build and develop their own successful LTAD Pathways. Our coaches have years of experience developing and implementing LTAD programmes to optimise the physical development of young athletes in a range of settings including professional academies, private sector training facilities, state and independent secondary schools and for National Centres of Excellence.

Within the pathway section you can access the one-of-a-kind Child To Champion LTAD Pathway that will provide a progressive 3-stage curriculum for developing young athletes building them from the ground up. Access engaging, tried and tested content and systematic training progressions that can be applied in any setting (schools, professional sports academies & private sector facilities) with some open space and basic strength and conditioning equipment.

From experience, we know that working as a LTAD/Youth S&C coach can be an isolating experience in some youth sports settings such as schools, sports clubs and private facilities. These organisations rarely have the budget to employ multiple S&C coaches or sport scientists that would allow you to discuss ideas, problem solve and fast track your development. To provide an unparalleled level of support and solve this issue we are launching an LTAD Pathway Development Group that meets online on a monthly basis to discuss ideas and solutions to help you solve the challenges and fast track the development of your programme.
